Overview
The Diadem is a Church of Scotland building situated near Chesser in West Edinburgh. For the past number of years, the building has been largely unused. Our West Community started to meet together in the building two years ago and it’s been a great blessing. We’ve also been able to host Holy Spirit Nights, Leaders’ days, Youth evenings, baptisms and more.
As we’ve been meeting there, we become aware that the building is for sale. Following discussions with the Church of Scotland we now have the exclusive opportunity to purchase the building at its valuation price of £550,000.
We believe that God has been leading us to this building and it’s the right time for us to step out in faith and purchase the building.
We believe that this building will be used as a fantastic venue both for our West Community and for the whole of City on a Hill. There are many opportunities that this would open up such as creating a staff base, hosting leadership training, having a church online studio, spaces for ministries and outreach.
How much will it cost?
The Church of Scotland are selling The Diadem for £550,000. We are in consultation with both Stewardship and Kingdom Bank regarding a mortgage. The deposit that we’re required to raise is in the region of £200,000.
As a church we practice the principle of tithing, giving away 10p out of every £ which is given to City on a Hill. The tithe of donations to this Diadem Building Project will go to support the work of Go Global in Asia.
We also intend this fund to cover some professional fees associated with the purchase. Therefore, the total amount we’re seeking to raise is £220,000.
We’re incredibly grateful that an individual has agreed to give a grant that matches up to £100,000 of donations raised by the church.
This leaves £120,000 for us to raise as a church family. Considering Gift Aid, which we estimate will be in the region of £20,000, our donations target is £100,000 for this project over the next few months.

As a church we believe in the principle of tithing and sowing. Therefore, as we receive contributions and offerings toward The Diadem Building Project we will be giving 10% to support the work of the Go Global Family in Asia.
What happens if we raise more than our target?
Any donations exceeding the amount we need to raise for The Diadem Building Project will be used for repairs and renovations and/or to increase the mortgage deposit. Additionally, 10% of the additional donations will be tithed to support the work of Go Global in Asia.
How can I play my part?
Please pray for the purchasing process and the financial provision. Jesus encouraged us to:
